Preface
To many students isomerism and in particular
stereoisomerism appear as an undigestible pile
of technical terms. UNIMOLIS is meant to help here.
We outlined the field using as few technical
terms as possible and in an illustrative and
interactive manner.
It is worthwile to study molecular structure in
detail. The closer you look, the more and the finer
differences you will detect. The gain is a deeper
understanding of the compounds' properties.
It is a pleasure to acknowledge steady support provided
by Professor A. Kerber during the production of this course.
Kai Hager (unit of chemical education, Mr. W. Wagner) programmed
the twistable illustrations of simple hydrocarbons and other
VRML objects.
Katja Dockendorff and Daniela Grote (Prof. K. Seifert)
provided NMR spectra.
Many thanks to all of them.
We are happy to receive hints to errors, comments
or any feedback from you, our readers and users of
UNIMOLIS. For that purpose here is our email address
