Two objects may be very similar but not identical. This is true in particular
for two nonidentical objects related as image and mirror image, e.g. right and
left hand, two corresponding gloves, shoes, etc.
Two such objects have exactly the same internal structure, that is
contain exactly the same geometric relations between corresponding
parts, and have both the same symmetry (or no symmetry), but are
distinguishable nevertheless, they differ in orientation.
The second such object is obtained from the first by reflection about
an arbitrary plane, another reflection at the same or another
plane will restore the first object. Thus such objects exist
in pairs, not in arbitrary numbers. Such objects are termed
chiral ("handed", from Greek cheir, hand).
